We're In for it...

You know your hubby is a smart aleck who has taught it to your kids when your two-year-old hands you a dirty napkin at dinner time and says "Merry Christmas." Oh my...

An exciting announcement

We have something exciting happening at our house. We've known about it for a little while but we like to wait a while before we tell people - just in case. So, we'd finally like to tell everyone that ... Ethan is finally potty trained!! :)

We're all pretty excited. He was so much easier than his big brother, so that was quite a relief. Really. I realized that I just potty trained Kevin 7 months ago, eventhough he and Ethan are 2 years apart. Funny how all kids are different. Ethan was potty trained at 2 1/2, Kevin was 1 month away from 4 years old, and Dallin was 1 month away from 3 years old.

It's fun not having anyone in diapers, although it is a little strange. Ethan loves wearing underwear, although it's really funny because he usually insists on wearing TWO pairs. He'll hold up his chubby little fingers and say "two underwears, two underwears" until I give him a second pair. Funny boy. :)

In other Ethan updates, the poor dude's eardrum burst for at least the third time on Monday. :( It happened twice in Germany, and then on Monday he started crying about mid morning. He was holding his ear so I called the doctor to get a sick appointment. Our appt was at 3:40, so it wasn't too late. Ethan was crying when we got there, so I was walking with him outside when he all of a sudden stopped crying and wanted to watch a movie on my iPod. Right after that, we got called back and the doctor said there was already a small perforation. Dang it! I think it burst as we were waiting. I swear, the poor kid's going to have hearing loss if that keeps happening! The doctor thought it had just started that morning and just swelled up really fast. So now we have oral antibiotics and lovely ear drops that he absolutely hates. Poor thing!

Having fun with the cousins!

My sister has been here during our Spring Break with her boys and we've been having so much fun together (hence me posting this at nearly 1am). We spent a few hours at the park this afternoon, and they had so much fun I think they all had sand and dirt in every crack and crevice. So, as soon as we got home, the boys all went straight to take baths. About a half hour later, we had five clean boys. I set up "Inspector Gadget" (The old version from when I was a kid) on the computer, and all five boys sat on my bed for an hour and watched it while Kristie and I made *green* Alfredo sauce for dinner. :)

Since Katie is too girly for Inspector Gadget, she hung out with us in the kitchen, enjoying some plain cooked spaghetti noodles. I don't have a high chair, so Kristie put my Bumbo seat on the chair for her. She was so adorable. All you could see was her little eyes peeping across the table. :)

She loved her noodles, by the way.

Farming Life

We decided to resurrect our Farmer's Life this weekend and plant tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, and a few herbs. In a few weeks we'll plant cucumbers and melons, which I'm excited about. In my short time as a farmer, I've learned a few things. Allow me to share them with you.

When you get your garden spot ready for planting and you go to Home Depot and buy some "deodorized composted steer manure," don't believe the "deodorized" part. Especially if you buy 6 bags of it and then put it in your van. I'm just guessing, but your van might smell like cow poop 'til you're ninety-six.

The second thing that I've learned is that when you're shoveling and mixing in the said 6 bags of manure into your garden dirt, it'll probably take you a good 2-3 hours, so you'll probably want to wear gloves. Just lettin' you know.

I'll let you know as we learn more in our farming life.

My very favorite thing about gardening is that my kids follow me and help me, or just play next to me while I'm working outside. Ethan goes outside with me every night when I water my potted plants and he has to hold the hose with me. He's my big helper. When I was shoveling and mixing the manure, Kevin and Ethan stood next to the garden saying "Ahhhhh! Cow poop!" as if it was attacking them. For two hours. I'm not even joking. They finally lost interest and went inside for a snack while I finished up. If I knew manure was that entertaining, I would have bought some earlier.

As a side note, I have 3 extra cherry tomato plants and 3 extra red pepper plants if anyone in Tucson wants any!

A Busy Boy's Life

This picture sums up Ethan's busy life right now. Everything's all about his "work:" good guys, playing outside, playing trains, carrying TWO plastic snakes around, digging, carrying swords and eating applesauce. He doesn't stop or slow down for much (mostly only Monster's Inc. or Wall-E, which he adorably pronounces Waweeee). He's pretty intense about his work until he just zonks. I just love how he still held onto his two big good guys until he went to sleep. He's such a cute boy (even if he keeps pooping in his pants)
